Although this site is dedicated to short track recording we have used our solution on long run events as well.
For instance, we recorded the pre-selections for the Misiion Olympycs 2009 here in Almere. An event organized by OVC in Almere with more than 600 scholar participants. OVC used our software and solutions for there own scholar races in 2009. Our support was not required any longer and scholars of OVC managed to do it solemnly. For us only proof that we are on the right track with this solution.
Things we changed in the meantime for long distance races:
- Instead of manual recording participant numbers on sequence of arrival we applied possibility to scan with UAN39 bar-code extended start numbers. We are using common bar-code scanners for this purpose. Bar-code scanners are synchronized with PC time of main registration station.
- Camstudio4Xnote video and time recording of arrival and automatic barcode scan to identify the persons who passed the finish line. With barcode scanning we are able to identify and tot track persons that pass finish line in groups and who are else hard to identify.
Note: Because barcode scanning with Camstudio4Xnote can only work if we have a clear picture of participants passing we can not use this technique for all participant. So why are we doing it? Because it helps us to assign correct times to participants. If we read the barcode for only one participant we know his finish time and can use that time for the whole group.
Things we are changing now.
